Obituary for Dr. W. Parker Tiller, Ed.D.

Dr. Warren Parker Tiller, Ed.D., died peacefully at Pikeville Medical Center on February 28, 2018 in Pikeville, Kentucky, at the age of 76.
Parker is survived by his son, Trevon Parker Tiller of Prestonsburg, Kentucky and his daughter Bethany Ann Tiller of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as one brother, Jerry Tiller of Castlewood, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Ann Blackburn Tiller and son Paul Warren Tiller, as well as one brother, Bob Tiller.
Parker was born on December 12, 1941 in Wise, Virginia to Rufus and Orpha Evans Tiller. He attended clinch Valley College (now UVA Wise) and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Pikeville College (now University of Pikeville); received his Master’s degree from Union College; and his Doctorate in Education from East Tennessee State University. He worked for the Pikeville Independent School Systems (as a Teacher, Principal, and school system Supervisor); Superintendent of the Jenkins Independent School system, Dean of Mountain Christian Academy; and the Dean of the Education Department at Alice Lloyd College.
Visitation services will be held Friday, March 2 from 6pm-9pm at JW Call and Son Funeral Home in Pikeville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Pikeville, Kentucky, followed by burial services at Annie E. Young Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Parker’s life.
