Obituary for George Drayton Kendrick, Jr.

George Drayton Kendrick Jr., age 92 of Pikeville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his home.
He was insurance agent with Life and Casualty/American General Insurance for 40 years, a former member of the Kiwanis and former chairman of the U.S. Selective Service Draft Board. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army becoming a Staff Sergeant at the age of 18 and was in combat 6 months before turning 19 in the Philippines.
George was born at Gulnare, Kentucky on June 8, 1926 the son of the late George D. Kendrick Sr. and Maxie Williamson Kendrick.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Jones Kendrick and an infant sister, Katherine Kendrick.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Lenora Thompson Kendrick and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" (Russell H.) Davis of Pikeville.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kate Lambert (Chase) of Paducah, Ky., Laura desCognets (Russ) of Lexington, Ky. and Sarah Featherston (Hays) of Lexington, Ky. and seven great-grandchildren, Rex Gay, Luke Gay, Tripp Lambert, Davis desCognets, Ellie desCognets, Georgeanna desCognets and Bobby Featherston.
